Collection: Flap Wheel

Flap wheels put dozens of overlapping abrasive cloth flaps on a hub so the wheel conforms to curves, deburrs edges and blends welds without gouging. Ours are built with aluminum oxide cloth in 40 through 320 grit and come two ways: mounted wheels on a 1/4" shank for die grinders and drills (1" to 3" diameter, packs of 10), and unmounted wheels with a 1" arbor hole for bench grinders and polishing lathes (6" to 12" diameter, packs of 5).

Mounted or unmounted?

• Mounted flap wheels – handheld work, inside diameters, tube and pipe, tight corners. Run them in a die grinder or drill at the RPM printed on the wheel.
• Unmounted flap wheels – larger parts brought to a fixed machine. More surface, more flaps, longer life; ideal for satin finishing stainless before buffing.

Choosing a grit

40–60 grit for deburring and weld blending, 80–120 for cleaning and satin finishing, 180–320 for a fine brushed look or prep before the buffing wheel. Flap wheels wear evenly and expose fresh grain as the flaps abrade, so the cut stays consistent for the life of the wheel.
