On a 52-inch industrial wide belt sander the belts are the process: each head carries one grain and one grit, and the sheet that comes out the far end is only as good as the sequence you loaded. These 52" x 75" metalworking belts give a multi-head deburring or finishing line the three grains it needs, with zirconia plus a grinding aid for mild steel and general fabrication, ceramic for stainless and hardened steel on the removal heads, and cloth aluminum oxide for aluminum and for every finishing head from 150 to 600 grit.
All three grains are on a Y-weight polyester-cotton cloth that holds its length across a 52-inch drum and runs wet or dry. We convert them in Anaheim, California and pack them in twos so each head on the line has a running belt and a spare.

Which grain goes on which head of a 52-inch deburring or finishing line?
Set the line from coarse to fine, fracturing grains first and aluminum oxide last, and never let one head skip more than one grade past the head before it.
- Zirconia (green or blue belt): the removal-head grain for mild steel plate, A36, tube and weldments, and the cooler option on stainless when a head cannot load ceramic. Ours carries a grinding aid in the resin bond and a second one coated on the grain, which lowers part temperature and reduces loading. Stocked 24, 36, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100 and 120 grit.
- Ceramic (orange-red belt): the removal-head grain for 304 and 316 stainless, hardened steel, tool steel and heavy plate. It renews its cutting points continuously and holds a near-constant rate through its life, cooler than zirconia, provided the head keeps it under load. Stocked 24, 36, 40, 60, 80 and 120 grit.
- Cloth A/O (brown belt): heat-treated aluminum oxide on the same poly-cotton cloth. The finishing-head grain on every metal and the only grain in this listing at 150, 180, 220, 320, 400 and 600; also the correct grain for aluminum sheet and plate, brass and copper at any grit.
A typical three-head stainless setup is ceramic 60 on the first head, ceramic or zirconia 120 on the second and cloth AO 220 on the third, followed by a surface conditioning belt. For laser-cut steel deburring, zirconia 60 then 120 is often all the line needs.

On aluminum, start at 60–80, slow the belt, and finish at 120–220 before a non-woven belt. Whatever the metal, a head at 220 will not remove a 60 scratch from the head before it; keep the steps to one grade, or at most two, between heads.
What machines take a 52" x 75" belt?
- 52–54 inch industrial wide belt sanders of the Timesaver 52 class that specify a 75-inch belt, set up for metal with a metal-rated collector or wet collection.
- Multi-head deburring and finishing lines for stainless sheet, laser-cut steel parts and aluminum panels up to 52 inches wide.

Width must match exactly; 51, 52, 53 and 54 inch machines each take their own belt and we stock several of those widths. Length tolerance on most machines is about plus or minus a quarter inch, and the tracking oscillation centres the belt in that window. We have not verified specific model numbers for this size, so confirm the dimensions on your machine plate or in the manual. If your line needs a different length, we make 52-inch wide belts to order in about three days. Check the inside of the belt for a direction arrow before mounting and run it that way if one is printed.
How to get the most out of them
- Metal-rated collection on every head. Steel sparks and fine aluminum in a collector that holds wood dust are a fire risk. Use a dedicated metal-rated collector with a spark arrestor, or wet collection, before any metal goes through.
- Load the removal heads. Ceramic and zirconia self-sharpen only under pressure. Set each removal head for a real cut so the grain fractures; a glazed belt heats the sheet and passes the heat down the line.
- Set the finishing heads light. At 150 and finer, use platen pressure and a light cut so the scratch is flat and even across 52 inches of width.
- Keep the feed constant. A speed change shows as a band across the sheet; a stop under any head blues stainless in seconds.
- Change belts on cut rate. Track amp draw or removal per pass on each head and change the belt before the finish suffers; ceramic in particular keeps cutting until it is spent and then heats the part quickly.
- Aluminum runs slower. Lower belt speed, cloth AO or grinding-aid zirconia, and a grease stick on the running belt when it loads.
- Run wet where the line allows and store 52-inch belts hanging on a wide roller, never folded, away from humidity and sunlight; let cold belts warm before mounting.

Frequently asked questions
How should I set up three heads for deburring and graining stainless with 52" x 75" belts?
Put ceramic 60 grit on the first head to remove the cut burr and scale, ceramic or grinding-aid zirconia 120 on the second to blend, and cloth aluminum oxide 220 on the third platen head for the grain. Follow with a surface conditioning belt if the spec calls for a softer brushed finish.
Can one 52-inch line run both carbon steel and stainless?
Yes, with either zirconia or ceramic on the removal heads, but many shops dedicate belts by metal so free iron from carbon steel is not carried into stainless work and left to rust-spot later. If you must share, run stainless first on fresh belts and keep the line clean between materials.
Which grits are stocked in each grain on this size?
Zirconia is stocked 24, 36, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100 and 120. Ceramic is stocked 24, 36, 40, 60, 80 and 120. Cloth aluminum oxide runs from 24 through 600 and is the only grain at 150, 180, 220, 320, 400 and 600. The selector shows live availability; other combinations can be made to order.
My machine is 53 or 54 inches wide. Will a 52-inch belt work?
No, width must match the machine. A belt that is narrower than the drum leaves an unsanded strip and tracks poorly. We stock 51, 52, 53 and 54 inch metalworking belts and make any width and length to order in about three days, so order the width on your machine plate.
Can these belts run wet on a coolant-fed line?
Yes. All three grains are on a Y-weight polyester-cotton cloth built to run wet or dry, so they suit coolant-fed deburring and graining heads as well as dry heads with metal-rated collection. Wet running keeps stainless cooler and keeps aluminum from loading the belt.
Why is the finishing head leaving bands across the sheet?
Bands come from a feed speed change, a stop under the head, or a glazed belt that rubs instead of cutting. Keep the conveyor constant for the whole sheet, never pause under a head, set the finishing head light on the platen, and change the belt as soon as its cut rate drops.
How many belts per pack and do you supply whole lines?
