When a weld sits inside a corner an angle grinder cannot reach, the job goes to a die grinder with a twist-lock disc on the end of it. These 2" and 3" Rolloc quick change discs are the Type R (male-button) style that spins onto any standard Rolloc-compatible holder in a second, with no wrench and no downtime between grits. Choose aluminum oxide (36–120 grit) for aluminum, brass, mild steel and general deburring, or ceramic (24–120 grit) for stainless, hardened steel and weld work where a disc has to keep cutting under pressure.
Fabricators, welders, boat builders and maintenance crews buy them for weld grinding, deburring and blending in tight spaces. The 2" disc is sold 50 to a pack for confined corners and small welds; the 3" disc comes 25 to a pack and covers more surface per pass for general grinding and blending.

Aluminum oxide or ceramic, 2" or 3": which Rolloc disc should you choose?
Pick the grain by the metal, then the diameter by the space, then the grit by the job.
- Aluminum oxide (36, 60, 80, 120 grit): the general-purpose disc. Tough, forgiving grain that keeps cutting at the light-to-moderate pressure a die grinder puts on it. Use it on aluminum, brass, bronze, mild steel, castings and paint or rust removal. It is also the better disc for a finish pass on any metal, because it wears smoothly rather than in fractures.
- Ceramic (24, 36, 40, 60, 80, 120 grit): the stainless and weld disc. Ceramic grain micro-fractures under load to expose fresh edges, so it holds a near-constant cut rate on stainless, hardened and tool steel, and heavy weld beads. It needs firm pressure to work; run it lightly and it glazes and heats the part. If your stainless is turning blue, press harder or drop a grit, do not back off.
- 2" diameter (50 per pack): inside corners, small fillet welds, the root of a tee joint, tube clusters, holes and slots. The small face reaches where a 3" disc would ride on two surfaces at once.
- 3" diameter (25 per pack): open surfaces, longer weld seams, blending a repair into a panel, deburring plate edges. More material removed per pass and a smoother blend, but it needs room to lie flat.
A fabrication shop working carbon and stainless typically stocks 2" ceramic in 36 and 60 for weld removal, 3" ceramic in 60 and 80 for blending, and 3" aluminum oxide in 120 for finish passes and aluminum work.

What tools and holders do Rolloc discs fit?
- Type R (male) twist-lock fitting. The button on the back of the disc threads into a standard Rolloc-compatible holder with a quarter turn. Spin it on until it seats; it tightens itself in use and unwinds with a twist against rotation when you change grits.
- Holders. Use a 2" holder for 2" discs and a 3" holder for 3" discs. A disc overhanging a smaller holder flexes at the rim and tears; a disc on a larger holder exposes the holder edge and scores the work. This listing is discs only.
- Die grinders. Straight and right-angle air or electric die grinders with a collet that takes the holder's shank are the normal tool. Right-angle grinders give the flattest approach on welds; straight grinders reach into pipe and bores.
- Speed. Stay within the maximum speed marked on your holder and grinder. Small discs run at high spindle speeds, and a 3" disc at full die-grinder speed generates a lot of heat at the rim.

How to get the most out of Rolloc quick change discs
- Match the grain to the metal. Ceramic on stainless, hardened steel and heavy welds; aluminum oxide on aluminum, brass, mild steel and anything you are finishing rather than grinding.
- Give ceramic the pressure it needs. Ceramic only self-sharpens under load. Lean into the disc on stainless and let it cut; a light touch glazes the grain and blues the part.
- Run aluminum oxide lighter. Aluminum oxide cuts well at moderate pressure and loads with aluminum if you push it. Keep the disc moving and clear the swarf.
- Angle the disc. Hold the disc at a shallow angle so the outer edge does the work, and sweep along the weld rather than dwelling. Flat contact across the whole face stalls the grinder and heats the part.
- Step grits in order. 36 → 60 → 80 → 120. Skipping a grade leaves deep scratches under a shiny blend that shows up after paint or passivation.
- Change the disc when it slows. A twist off and a twist on takes seconds; a dull disc costs more in heat and time than a fresh one costs in money.
- Keep ferrous and stainless discs separate. A disc that has ground carbon steel will embed iron in stainless and cause rust spots later. Mark the packs.
- Finish with surface conditioning. After 120 grit, a non-woven Rolloc disc blends the scratch into a uniform satin without removing more metal.

What does Type R mean on a Rolloc disc?
Type R is the male-button twist-lock fitting: a threaded plastic button moulded to the back of the disc that screws into a standard Rolloc-compatible holder with a quarter turn. It is the most common quick-change style, so these 2" and 3" discs fit the holders most shops already have on their die grinders.
Should I buy aluminum oxide or ceramic Rolloc discs for stainless steel?
Ceramic. Stainless work-hardens and holds heat, and ceramic grain keeps fracturing to fresh cutting edges under pressure, so it removes weld and blends without glazing. Use 24–36 grit to knock down the bead, 60–80 to blend, and 120 before a surface conditioning disc. Aluminum oxide is the better choice for aluminum, brass and mild steel.
Which size Rolloc disc do I need, 2" or 3"?
Use 2" discs for inside corners, small fillet welds, tube clusters and anywhere the disc must sit flat on one surface without touching another. Use 3" discs for open seams, panel blending and plate edges where a larger face gives a smoother, faster result. Many shops keep both on separate holders.
How many discs are in a pack?
Each 2" pack contains 50 discs and each 3" pack contains 25 discs, all of one grain and one grit. Do these Rolloc discs come with a holder?
No. This listing is discs only. You need a Type R twist-lock holder in the matching diameter, 2" or 3", with a shank that fits your die grinder collet. Any standard Rolloc-compatible holder works. Keep one holder per size so you can switch between a 2" corner disc and a 3" blending disc without unscrewing anything.
Why is my ceramic Rolloc disc glazing and turning the steel blue?
Not enough pressure. Ceramic grain only sharpens itself when it is loaded hard enough to micro-fracture; at a light touch the tips round over, stop cutting and generate heat, which shows as blue on stainless. Lean into the disc, angle it so the edge works, keep it moving, and switch to a fresh disc if it has already glazed.
What do I use after a 120 grit Rolloc disc to get a satin finish?
A non-woven surface conditioning Rolloc disc on the same holder. Medium grade blends the 120 grit scratch into a uniform satin, very fine refines it further, and coarse can replace a 120 grit step on soft metals. The non-woven disc removes almost no metal, so it finishes without changing the profile you just ground.
