CURRENT SELECTOR, CLEARER CHOICE

Use the live aluminum oxide range for leveling through fine preparation

This page now resolves the conflict between the old description and the actual variants: the product currently sells aluminum oxide belts only. Choose grit by the starting surface and required finish.

01

Two belts per pack

Both belts use the selected aluminum oxide grit.

02

Nine current grits

36, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, and 320 grit are listed.

03

Customer-verified rating

5.0 out of 5 from 22 reviews. Available review content appears below.

DECISION GUIDE

Which 43" x 60" grit should you choose?

Start with the least aggressive grit that will correct the surface and use intermediate stages to remove the prior scratch pattern.

36 GRIT

Heavy leveling

The coarsest current choice for substantial stock removal on a validated setup.

60–80 GRIT

Coarse and intermediate sanding

Use to level and begin reducing the scratch from the initial cut.

100–180 GRIT

Finish preparation

Use progressively for general refinement before the required coating or finishing step.

220–320 GRIT

Fine refinement

Use only after the prior scratch pattern is controlled.

ORIGINAL MACHINE REFERENCES, RETAINED

Which machines are associated with this belt size?

These names come from the original product page and help identify likely applications. They are not fit guarantees; confirm the exact belt width and loop length in the machine manual.

MACHINE REFERENCE

Timesavers models that specify a 43 × 60 belt

Verify the exact machine revision, belt dimensions, backing, joint, and operating requirements before ordering.

Fit check: A manufacturer or model-family name is not enough. Match both dimensions exactly and check any backing, joint, direction, tension, and speed requirements.

ABRASIVE AND PROCESS NOTES

What original technical guidance was retained?

The important material distinctions, grit ranges, bidirectional note, and troubleshooting links remain part of the page.

ALUMINUM OXIDE

Broad-range general-purpose choice

Where listed, cloth aluminum oxide covers coarse removal through finer finishing stages. Selected products also offer paper aluminum oxide in a narrower range.

ZIRCONIA

Coarse and medium stock removal

Where listed, zirconia is concentrated in 36–120 grit. The 43 × 60 product is the exception in this batch and currently offers aluminum oxide only.

BIDIRECTIONAL NOTE

Follow the delivered belt and machine

The original records describe these wide belts as bidirectional. A direction arrow or machine instruction on the actual product controls if present.

GRIT PROGRESSION

Remove the prior scratch before moving finer

Start with the least aggressive grit that will do the work, inspect the full surface, and use intermediate stages appropriate to the required finish.

HOW TO USE IT

Install and test the belt before production sanding

Machine setup controls belt tracking, finish consistency, and service life.

  1. 01

Lock out power and confirm a 43-inch × 60-inch belt is specified.

  2. 02

Inspect the belt face, edges, backing, and joint.

  3. 03

Install according to the direction, tension, and tracking instructions.

  4. 04

Run without stock and confirm stable tracking and clearance.

  5. 05

Test the grit on representative stock with appropriate collection.

Use the guarding, extraction or collection, personal protective equipment, training, and operating procedures required by the machine, abrasive product, work material, and workplace.

Use it for

  • Compatible 43-inch × 60-inch wide-belt sanders
  • Wood stock removal and panel leveling
  • General metal sanding with an approved aluminum oxide process
  • Progressive sanding from coarse through 320 grit
  • Bidirectional use when the delivered belt and machine permit it

Do not use it for

  • Ordering zirconia from this product—the live selector does not offer it
  • A machine requiring another belt length
  • Installing a damaged or poorly tracked belt
  • Skipping directly from 36 grit to a fine finish stage
  • Wet use without belt-and-machine approval
